Daniel Louisy
We women here in America love a man with an accent! Where in London are you from?
I'm born and raised in North West London!! So you'd probably like to hear me speak, but wouldn't understand a lot of it so I'd have to slow it down for you. The best way for me to explain would be to make reference to a few films: When I'm with my boys...Snatch, when doing an interview...007, and in my younger years ...Kidulthood. I have also been warned that I say the word Bruv (My Brother) far too much; I was filming the other day and they had to cut to tell me to stop saying it.
What is your nationality?
My mother is St Lucian and my father is English.
Have you been here in the states? If so, where?
I have been to the states loads of times, nearly every summer when I was a kid. It was my mums way of shipping me out of the estate (project housing) to keep me out of trouble. I have family everywhere, my god mother is in the Bronx, New York, my aunt is in Philadelphia and I have numerous uncles and aunts in Florida.
We understand that you did not always have this amazing body and that you had to educate yourself on how to sculpt your body, tell us more about that.
(Laughs) If I gave you the story from the start, we would be here all day and I'd end up holding my head with both hands, rocking backwards and forwards crying my eyes out; so I'll give you the safer shortened option. At a young age, I was very overweight and I was inspired by a lads holiday (guys going away together), to lose all my extra baggage. To give you an idea, I was three inches shorter at the time and four stone (56 pounds) heavier. Intially, I had no idea what I was doing and use to train everyday without eating anything. I did loose a lot of weight, but was very weak and poorly. I have made a lot of mistakes with training over the years and have learned everything the hard way, as my mum told me when I was young, "if you can't hear Daniel, you will feel." Over the years I have researched and tried every form of training and dieting you can think of, using myself as the guinea pig. If I were a scientist, I would have turned myself into the Hulk buy now - lol!
How did you come into modeling and what were you doing before?
I didn't really ever see modeling as a career for myself until around 18 months ago. Since this point, I have really applied myself and the whole thing has been gaining momentum since that day. A good friend of mine asked me to do an album cover (which I rejected at first) and it has all really gone from there. Friends always told me that I should do it and I had been stopped in the streets by agencies, but I didn't really ever take it seriously. I couldn't get my head around standing there having somebody tell me to do my "come to bed" eyes (laughs); but I have managed to get over that now. I have a building company that I run along side my modeling. I use to be a personal trainer, so [I] sometimes help old clients increase fitness for special events such as the marathon, etc.
Congratulations on the N-Dubz music video gig! Thats a hot video. How did you land the job?
I got the N-Dubz video through someone showing the album cover I did to Tilisa, who gave me the thumbs up. Also I would like to add that on set Dappy walked up to me, looked me up and down, then turned to the record executives and said, At last, you lot have got a good looking brear, you lot was bringing some butters brears for T before Translation = He also approved!!
You also have your own line of clothing in the works, tell us about that
That is all in the pipeline. The T-shirts will be out in the summer (not that there is such a thing over here), and the rest of the line will follow afterwards. Im just so busy at the moment, its finding the time to fit it all in.
What is the biggest misconception about you?
That I am reserved and moody, which I think is my own fault as I have never smiled in a picture
When are we going to see a smile in your modeling portfolio?
(Laughs) I became a Godfather not long back and in the christening photos I was asked why I was not smiling and posing with my Godson doing the "come to bed eyes." Truth is that I don't like my teeth, I think they're too small for my mouth.
